KIP Chair appointed to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority

KIP Chair, Plan. Dr. Lawrence Esho, was appointed by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development to join the Board of Directors of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA). The appointment is tenable for a period of 3 years, effective from the 1st of October 2019. Dr. Esho is representing planners at the Board.

KERRA is one amongst three roads agencies under the Ministry, the other two being the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) and the Kenya Urban Roads Authority. KERRA is the largest of the three, with a budget outlay of over 350 billion and more than 700 employees operating in all the 47 Counties.

During the Board’s inaugural meeting, Dr. Esho emphasized the need to integrate Spatial Planning in Infrastructure Project Development in the interest of Sustainable Development.

Dr. Esho also discussed opportunities for student internships for purposes of road mapping and assisting in the preparation of transportation master plans.
