Planning and You – Kenya Edition is a public education series by the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP), adapted from the Commonwealth Association of Young Planners’ initiative in the UK. This multimedia project is designed to demystify the physical and land use planning process in Kenya and bring it closer to the public.
Purpose of the Series
- To educate the public on the key stages of Kenya’s planning system
- To promote transparency and accountability in planning practice
- To feature diverse voices from within the planning profession and communities
- To provide a mentorship platform for student planners in communication and content creation
What to Expect
The series will consist of engaging, pre-recorded weekly episodes aired via YouTube and podcast platforms. These will explore Kenya’s planning laws, institutions, and procedures using accessible language and real-life examples.
Volunteer Involvement
We are proud to produce this show through a collaborative volunteer effort involving:
- Senior Planners: Providing expert insights, validating scripts, hosting episodes, and mentoring students
- Student Members: Researching content, scripting, organizing episodes, and engaging peers across institutions

- Production Period: 15th May – 4th July 2025
- Filming Location: KIP Office, Nairobi (Pioneer Plaza, 4th Floor)
- Episode Format: Weekly pre-recorded content for digital platforms
