World Town Planning Day 2024
Home Starts with Planning
Students from leading Planning Schools across Kenya—Kenyatta University, Technical University of Kenya, University of Nairobi, Maseno University, Maasai Mara University, and JOOUST—gathered in Kilimani to celebrate World Town Planners Day under the theme, “Home Starts with Planning.”
The event began with an engaging neighborhood walk led by KIP President, Fawcett Komollo. Students had the opportunity to observe urban planning concepts in practice—gaining real-world insights into how thoughtful design shapes livable spaces.

After the walk, students gave thought-provoking presentations based on their field observations. These presentations demonstrated a deep understanding of sustainable urban development and community-focused planning.
This successful initiative was supported by Ripple Planning, Kilimani Project Foundation (KPF), and Supreme Plans, under the coordination of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP). Their collective efforts created a meaningful platform for applied learning and collaboration.
