Advancing Planning Practice Through Policy and Participation

At the Kenya Institute of Planners, our Policy and Advocacy efforts aim to influence urban development frameworks that foster sustainable, inclusive and resilient communities. We work at the intersection of research, practice, and public interest to champion policies that prioritize good governance, professional ethics and people-centered planning.

Through strategic collaborations, active participation in national and county-level policy processes, and thought leadership, KIP focuses on:

  • Urban Policy Reforms: Engaging with legislators and stakeholders to improve legal and regulatory frameworks.

  • Public Awareness Campaigns: Educating citizens on their role and rights in the planning process.

  • Professional Representation: Advocating for planners’ roles in public institutions, regulatory boards, and urban projects.
