The Nyeri County Spatial Plan (CSP) is a ten-year GIS-based framework mandated by the Constitution of Kenya and the County Government Act (2012) to guide spatial development, resource allocation and population distribution. It aligns with national and county development objectives while coordinating sectoral projects to minimize resource wastage and duplication. The plan’s preparation was informed by key policies, including Kenya Vision 2030, the National Spatial Plan, the National Land Use Policy (2018) and relevant legislation such as the Physical and Land Use Planning Act (2019) and the Urban Areas and Cities Act (2019). Stakeholder engagement was integral, with meetings held in all wards, recognizing the ward as a critical planning unit. Each ward developed its vision, which was consolidated into an overarching vision for Nyeri County.
